Water Pump: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain cooling system. Refer to Cooling System / Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect radiator outlet hose.
4. Remove radiator cooling fan motor assembly.
5. Remove drive belt(s). Refer to Drive Belt.
6. Refer to Timing Belt for removal of the timing belt, tensioner adjuster, lefthand camshaft pulley,lefthand rear timing belt cover and the tensioner bracket.
7. Disconnect heater and radiator hose from water pump.

8. Remove water pump retaining bolts Fig. 66, then the pump.

9. Reverse procedure to install. Tighten water mounting bolts in two step in sequence, Fig. 67, and to specification, Fig. 66.
