Control Assembly: Testing and Inspection

AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY INSPECTION










INSPECT ILLUMINATION
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-8 and the negative (-) lead to terminal A-21.
2. Check that the illumination lights up.

If the illumination does not light up, test the bulb.







INSPECT MODE SWITCH
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-19 and the negative (-) lead to terminal A-22.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery through a 1.4 W test bulb, to each terminal, as shown in the chart below.

A-4 FOOT/DEF
A-5 FOOT
A-6 B/L
A-7 FACE
A-3 DEF

3. Push in the each of the button and then check that the indicators and test bulb light up.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.







INSPECT AIR INLET SWITCH
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-19 and the negative (-) lead to terminal A-22.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery through a 1.4 W test bulb to each terminal, as shown in the chart below.

Connected Terminal Position
A-16 FRESH
A-17 RECIRC

3. Check that the FRESH, RECIRC indicator and test bulb light up alternately each time the air inlet control switch is pressed.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.







INSPECT INDICATOR DIMMING OPERATION
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-19 and the negative (-) lead to terminal A-21 and A-22.
2. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to a terminal A-8 and check that the mode indicator dims.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.







INSPECT A/C AND DEF SWITCH OPERATION DEF AND A/C INDICATOR
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-19 and negative (-) lead to terminal A-18 and A-22.
2. Push in the DEF switch and then check that the DEF and A/C indicator light up.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.







A/C INDICATOR
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-19 and negative (-) lead to terminal A-18.
2. Push in the A/C button and then check that the A/C indicator lights up.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.







3. Then. connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal A-8 and negative (-) lead to terminal A-21 and check that the indicator dims.

If operation is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.










If continuity is not as specified, replace the A/C control assembly.










INSPECT BLOWER SPEED CONTROL SWITCH CONTINUITY
If continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
