Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT AIR PUMP ASSY




a. Check the operation.
1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 2.
2. Check that the air flows.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the air pump.

2. INSPECT AIR PUMP RELAY







a. Check the resistance.
1. Using an Ohmsmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

3. INSPECT AIR SWITCHING VALVE ASSY




a. Check the operation.
1. Apply a vacuum of 28 kPa (210 mmHg, 8.27 in.Hg) to port A, then blow air into port B. Check that the air is discharged from port C.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the air switching valve.

4. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSY







a. Check the resistance.
1. Using an Ohmsmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.







b. Check the vacuum switching valve for ground.
1. Using an Ohmsmeter, check the resistance between each terminal and the body.




c. Check the operation.
1. Check that air flows from port E to the filter.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.




2. Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
3. Check that air flow from port E to port F.

If the operation is not as specified, replace the vacuum switching valve.
