Ignition timing, adjusting with timing light

Work sequence

Note: Oil temperature must be at least 60°C (140°F)






- Disconnect plugs from idle stabilizer
Squeeze connectors to release






- Connect plugs together (arrow)
- Start engine
- Adjust engine idle to 850 - 950 rpm
- Flash timing mark with timing light mark on pulley must align with red mark on scale
- If necessary, loosen distributor clamping bolt and turn distributor
- Reconnect idle stabilizer
- Retighten clamping bolt
