Engine Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection

Temperature sensor II, checking






Note: Temperature sensor in cylinder head supplies control unit with information for starting and warm-up enrichment

- Disconnect temperature sensor wire from sensor
- "zero" ohmmeter and connect one probe to temperature sensor and other to ground





- Check resistance at oil temperatures using chart above

If resistance reading too high, touch ground probe to steel housing of sensor
If resistance now OK, problem is corrosion between sensor and cylinder head
If resistance is still incorrect, replace temperature sensor II
