- The air receiver contains a desiccant whose purpose is to absorb any moisture present in the system. For this reason, air must not be allowed to enter the air receiver otherwise the moisture in the air will be absorbed. The air receiver must not remain unplugged for longer than a total of approx. 5 minutes. If the total time is longer, the unit must be replaced. If in doubt, replace the air receiver after 2-3 years of service.
1. Disconnect battery ground lead.
2. Drain system of refrigerant. For more information refer to "Drainage of A/C System". Service and Repair
3. Disconnect and plug:
- hose between air receiver and compressor
- pipe between air receiver and evaporator.
CAUTION: Plug connections immediately, including air receiver connections, if unit is not to be replaced.
4. Separate electrical switch from low-pressure switch (pressostat).
5. Remove air receiver from bracket.
6. Transfer low-pressure switch (pressostat) to new air receiver. Tighten to 3.5 Nm (2.6 ft lb).
CAUTION: Measure quantity of oil in air receiver. Fill new unit with same quantity, approx. 80 - 100 ml (0.084 - 0.100 qt).
