Battery Positive Cable Replacement (Starter)

Removal Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning Battery Disconnect Warning.


1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).

2. Remove the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .





3. Detach the battery post cover (1) and remove the junction block retainer (2).

4. Remove the battery positive extension cable (3) from the junction block.





5. Remove the battery positive cable (starter) (2) from the junction block.





6. Remove the nut (2) and the bolt (1) securing the battery positive cable to the engine block.





7. Remove the battery positive cable nut at the starter.





8. Remove the battery positive cable (3) from the engine compartment.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the battery positive cable (3) to the engine compartment.





Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

2. Install the battery positive cable to the starter and tighten the nut to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





3. Install the battery positive cable to the engine block and tighten the harness retainer (1) to 12 Nm (9 lb ft).

4. Tighten the nut/stud (2) to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





5. Install the battery positive cable (2) to the junction block and tighten the retainer (1) to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).

6. Attach the junction block cover.

7. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).

8. Install the front air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
