Fuel Line Replacement - Chassis
Removal Procedure
Danger:
To avoid any vehicle damage, serious personal injury or death when major components are removed from the vehicle and the vehicle is supported by a hoist, support the vehicle with jack stands at the opposite end from which the components are being removed and strap the vehicle to the hoist.
Note:
The fuel system pipes can be serviceable individually or as a complete fuel/brake pipe assembly. The following is the procedure for servicing the fuel pipes individually.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief (High Pressure) Fuel Pressure Relief (High Pressure)Fuel Pressure Relief (Low Pressure) Fuel Pressure Relief (Low Pressure).
3. Remove the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (V6) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (V8) Service and Repair.
4. Remove the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement Engine Replacement.
5. Remove the appropriate heat shields for access to the fuel/brake pipe assembly.
6. Disconnect the fuel pipe connector (1).
7. Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard retaining nuts (1).
8. Remove the rear fuel/brake pipe assembly stone guard from the vehicle.
9. Disconnect the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Service and Repair.
10. Disconnect the EVAP pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.
11. Remove the front fuel/brake pipe assembly protection plate (1) from the vehicle.
Note:
Mark the positions of the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) before removing the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) from the fuel/brake pipes assembly.
12. Remove all the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) from the fuel/brake pipe assembly (2).
13. Manoeuvre and remove the fuel line from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. Manoeuvre and install the fuel line to the vehicle.
Note:
Observed the marked the positions of the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) when installing the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) to the fuel/brake pipes assembly.
2. Install all the fuel/brake pipe retainers (1) to the fuel/brake pipe assembly (2).
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
3. Install the front fuel/brake pipe assembly protection plate (1) to the vehicle and tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb in).
4. Install the rear stone guard and the rear stone guard to chassis retaining nuts (1) and tighten to 4 Nm (35 lb in).
5. Connect the fuel feed pipe (2). Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Service and Repair.
6. Connect the EVAP pipe (1). Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service Procedures.
7. Install the removed heat shields.
8. Install the engine. Refer to Engine Replacement Engine Replacement.
9. Install the exhaust system. Refer to Exhaust System Replacement (V6) Service and RepairExhaust System Replacement (V8) Service and Repair.
10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Primary)Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary) Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Auxiliary).
