Pinpoint Test D: The Delayed Accessory is Inoperative

Refer to wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

Under normal operation, voltage is supplied to the accessory delay relay coil and switch internally through the Smart Junction Box (SJB). The SJB controls the coil side ground of the accessory delay relay and activates the accessory delay relay when the ignition switch is in the ON position. The accessory delay relay remains active for an additional 10 minutes when the ignition switch is in the OFF position or until the driver door is opened.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse
- Accessory delay relay
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Driver window control switch
- Driver window motor
- Passenger window control switch
- Passenger window motor
- SJB

PINPOINT TEST D: THE DELAYED ACCESSORY IS INOPERATIVE

-------------------------------------------------
D1 CHECK ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY SUPPLY VOLTAGE

- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: Accessory Delay Relay.
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between accessory delay relay pin 85 harness side and ground; and between accessory delay relay pin 30 harness side and ground.

- Are both voltages greater than 10 volts?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
VERIFY SJB fuse 16 (30A) is OK.
If OK, GO to D3.
If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D2 CHECK THE ACCESSORY DELAY RELAY

- Ignition OFF.
- Carry out the accessory delay relay component test.

- Did the accessory delay relay pass the component test?

Yes
GO to D3.

No
INSTALL a new accessory delay relay. TEST the system for normal operation.

-------------------------------------------------
D3 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION

- Disconnect all SJB electrical connectors.
- Check for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
- Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. Concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
