Disc Brake System: Testing and Inspection

^ Inspect the front disc brake caliper and front disc brake caliper mounting for loose or damaged parts. Verity that the brake caliper bolts are tightened to the specified torque.
^ Check the front brake hose and front disc brake caliper fitting for leaks or damage.
^ Thoroughly check the front disc brake caliper for damp areas that might indicate a leaking front disc brake caliper seal.
^ Check for brake fluid contamination, which might also indicate a leaking front disc brake caliper seal. If a leaking seal is indicated, disassemble and inspect the front disc brake caliper.
^ Check the front disc brake rotor for obvious damage. Unless damage is obvious, the need to resurface, recondition, or replace the front disc brake rotor cannot be determined by a visual inspection. Tolerances on front disc brake rotor thickness, parallelism, and runout are very critical and must be measured with precision tools.
^ Compare the brake shoes and linings on both front brakes for different degrees of wear. If the set of brake shoes and linings on one brake is excessively worn, the caliper piston may be seized in its bore. If such a condition exists, disassemble the front disc brake caliper and inspect the suspected seized piston.
